My Favorite Apps For Writing: NaNoWriMo Edition

So I already posted about one of these apps, but since it’s November aka NaNoWriMo, I figured I would post again just to show how useful they are for tracking your writing habits. I’m one of those crazies who loves statistics and graphs and all of that, because I think it’s a cool tool to look back on.

So the first one is called WordTracker. Here some of these stats like the “Average Words Per Hour” and “Best Words Per Hour” are irrelevant because I added my first 64K (or whatever it was) in like less than 30 seconds just so I would have the full thing on there, so it threw those off.  (And yes, I know that NaNoWriMo is about writing something NEW, but I’m finishing last year’s novel. Hey, I’m still going to write 50,000 words. It’s fine.) Clearly you don’t have to do that. The cool part is the “words today”,  ”words this hour” and month and so on, and then hours you’ve been working on it. It keeps track of it for a whole month, so hey! Perfect for when you’re supposed to write 50,000 words in ONE MONTH. So snazzy, I know. That way on November 28th when you’re like “OH MY GOD HOW MUCH OF MY LIFE HAVE I EVEN PUT INTO THIS?” Well, you’ll know. Exactly. It’s cool, I promise.

The next one is called WordTyrant. It kind of kicks your butt in gear when you realize that you’re getting behind. It’s similar to the graphs on the NaNo website, but a little different, which I somehow like having ALL of the different visuals. But that’s because I’m weird.

Any other app suggestions? Happy NaNoWriMo!
